Half Blood Prince: Initial Reaction

Ahh. Well. It's done. It's now sitting on the shelf, for the first time, ever: six fully read Harry Potter books. All in a row. Yep. And of course I have things to say about it.

Warning: contains spoilers. Just in case you weren't postive.


  • Dumbledore. Dumbledore, man. I -- you -- he... And then... and then... *wibbles* He's not dead. It just doesn't feel right. Something's... off.

  • Aww, Harry. Harry. Good job getting over the angst. You're kind of, kind of... respectable again. I remember why I liked you to begin with.

  • Snape. *whimpers* Poor thing. Poor, lovely, intelligent man. You're better then that. You aren't a coward. You aren't evil. You don't have Wormtail as a sex slave, right?

  • Reggie. RAB RAB RAB RAB RAB. Hi, Regulus! I SO knew you'd show up!

  • Remus. Oh. Moony. Staring at the fire. The song. The automatic response and numbness. *hugs. forever and ever.*

  • Underground, literally, with the werewolves? Ooh...

  • Tom. oh. Oh. OH! Oh, Tom. A rabbit, eh? Nice touch. Very nice. But, erm. What did you do to those children in the cave?

  • Morfin! Hee! *loffs*

  • Pleading. Severus... (omg I'm gonna cry).

  • Army of zombies. Nuff said.

  • Draco. Aw. You aren't a killer.

  • Felix Felicis? Drug problem, anyone?

  • Waiting for coniption over seventh book to begin.

I stand by my theory that Dumbledore's death was all part of his own master plan. I WILL ALWAYS TRUST SNAPE.

As will I. I firmly stand behind the belief that Snape is wonderfully misunderstood and quite the genuis at plotting ways to get out of things.

Remus/who? I don't recognize that name. I refuse to even look at it.

Excuse me, but I'm here via [info]springy5000, and I'm helping her with her layout and was wondering how did you do your layout? Is it Generator? Or something similar? Because Morgan would like to have it.

It is in S1. I don't get how to work S2.

Go ahead. S'really not that hard. Just put the codes in the code box thinger and change the colors on things to coincide. Lot of trial and error.

AHHH!! Yes! Dumbledore is...no, he can't be! That's too terrible. But you know, to the well-organized mind, death is just the next great adventure. SEVERUS IS NOT EVIL. I do believe that Dumbledore was aware of the plot to kill him and allowed it to happen for the greater good of all, just like Obi-Wan did in Star Wars. Of course, Harry also has the portrait of Dumbledore to converse with. Remus was with Sirius, until he died of course. His excuses about a dangerous life were pitiful; he was mourning for his beloved Padfoot. I am sorry to say though, Kat, that Remus/Tonks was the only Het!Remus that I liked. She will never replace Sirius, but she can give Remus the love he deserves.

So much is similar in my little post book reaction... Although, I never thought of poor, under used Regulus for the RAB. I am disapointed in me for that one...

Although, I actually think Dumbledore is...er...gone. Think about the pattern...everyone who has ever been a strong parental figure to Harry dies for it - James/Lily, Sirius, Dumbledore... I mean, Aurthor and Molly are still alive because JK has a different plan for them. Although, Aurthor came close before..

And Tom is starting to creep me out, like more than Voldemort ever could. Strange, classic serial killer that Tom boy is. *shudder*

I automatically jumped to Reg because I am in love with him felt that he wouldn't just be mentioned for no reason.

I'm not sure about Dumbledore. I'll go either way with it. If he's dead... Ah well... If he's not, nifty. I just don't think Snape killed him though. No. No no.

Tom is very creepy. That he is. Kind of sexy though... In that sociopathic way.

Yeah, and now that people have mentioned Reg, it's sort of spelled out...since Remus talked about him and all. It just slipped right past me though. Damn me!

It is spelled out. But wonderfully so. Because now I have an actual ending to my Reg fic that can coincide with canon. Mostly. Except the incest. And gayness. Wa-ha.

But I couldn't write a Reggie fic and not stick something in there about his big bad sexy brother.

I just finished and now I'm sitting here with a big wonky grin on my face. Golly. 8 hours, that took me? Ben Christ.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing that with me. I think I shall try to traipse down Snape/Hermoine stories as a new OTP for a bit. (Remus/Sirius has reach a definte end as a relationship, I suspect, and I was getting bored with the same repeativenes of plot and character insight.) Any recs for me, o wise one?

Yes, the Reg mentioning (or basically accepted fandom reference now -- and boy won't we all feel like asses if we're completely wrong!) made everything better by the end of the book. I did enjoy it for it's other points -- it's my second favorite of the series so far. (The first being PoA, if only on principle, for the whole Marauder storyline coming to light. And Remus: my first love.)

Fics? Any fics? Or Reggie-based fics in particular? I've found that I've had to switched gears in the fandom for the time being. I might go back; I might not. Remus/Tonks threw me for a loop, and the book generally made me miss Sirius even more, strangely. So I've had to back out of the pups ship for the next whiles. Stupid Tonks. Ruining Remus and his gayness (though that isn't entirely true and I won't admit to really looking at it that way).

And haha! I don't think I've ever been addressed as earlwyn before. I mean. Not in a conversation, typed or otherwise. The real name's Kat.

And yes, the shirt is wunderbar. Many compliments -- and one strange women tried to pick me up. O.o
