| omg why is the motown christmas album THE BEST CHRISTMAS ALBUM OF ALL TIME? this question is obviously rhetorical, as the why is unimportant in the face of the excellence of the jackson five and stevie wonder. ooh, it also has my favourite version of "god rest ye merry gentlemen", by smokey robinson & the miracles. soooo good.
the diana ross tracks always scared me when i was younger, though. the beginning of "joy to the world" sounds like she's RUNNING RIGHT AT YOUR FACE, SINGING.
i'm making some tasty dinner, drinking a little wine. colin has made a million vegan brownies so i am SURROUNDED MY THEM. nom nom nom. also i think he is addicted to honey. but that's okay because i am addicted to spaghetti squash. HOW IS IT SO DELICIOUS, HOW? ihear: jackson five - little christmas tree iam: christmas!

| Fireflyfans.net was attacked today. It looks like years worth of excellent fan fiction has been horribly and perhaps irreparably lost.
Every entry that I have seen so far has been cut off at approximately it's halfway point. My stuff, Jan0904's Hotpoint, Tamsibling... The list goes on. Some of those stories are at Fanfiction.net as well but some are exclusive to Fireflyfans.net and the authors are no longer active in the community.
If the data cannot be recovered, it will be a daunting task for the authors (those who are willing to do so) to re-upload their work.
I, myself am looking at well over 300,000 words worth of material.
If the hacker can be tracked, I suggest we Browncoats find this purple belly. And if at least metaphorically, show them the following assembly instructions: Tree, rope, hacker... some assembly required.
Merry Gorram Christmas....
I'm posting this as an FYI since some of us also post our fics there

| :( Vic Chesnutt, a singer-songwriter from Athens, Ga., beloved by fans and critics for his disarmingly open songs about mortality and pain, is in a coma, his family has confirmed. They did not say what caused the coma. News about Mr. Chesnutt’s condition spread through the Internet on Wednesday through posts on Twitter by the singer Kristin Hersh, who has played with him. Mr. Chesnutt, 45, has been in a wheelchair since a car accident when he was 18, and was discovered in the late 1980s by Michael Stipe of R.E.M., who produced his first two albums. Since then Mr. Chesnutt has released at least a dozen more albums, including two this year, “At the Cut” and “Skitter on Take-Off.” In a review of a recent concert in New York, Jon Pareles noted that Mr. Chesnutt’s songs contemplate “not just mortality but also the broader inevitability of collapse and decay.” Some relevant entries from Kristin's Twitter: yeah, i can tell you what i know, but no one knows much: another suicide attempt, looks bad, coma--if he survives, there may be brain damage about 9 hours ago from web this time, it's real scary: *this* time, he left a note, *this* time, he asked them to call me about 8 hours ago from web NY Times ArticleKristin Hersh's Twitterihear: teenage fanclub - december

| Miley's New Boyfriend -- History of ViolenceMiley Cyrus' new boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, isn't just another pretty face -- dude has a bit of a punch to him. Just a few months ago -- before he and Miley hooked up -- 19-year-old Liam (in the gray striped shirt) and his brother ("Star Trek" actor Chris Hemsworth) got into a full-on fistfight with some random dude after an event in Hollywood. We're told it all went down after the brothers -- who are currently featured in Vanity Fair -- engaged in some late-night smack talk with the random guy. The brothers approached the dude -- and suddenly a 2-on-1 brawl broke out. We're told event security broke up the fight -- and managed to separate everyone before cops were needed. Hope Miley's into bad boys. SOURCE: tmz( Read more )

| I finished the Go Navy! quilt today. I hand-finished the entire binding today while watching endless episodes of Super Nanny. Thank God for television marathons! The Go Navy! quilt spans my entire mattress, which is queen sized, with no drop. It's the perfect size for two people to cuddle up or for one to take a cozy nap. ( Go Navy! ) | |

| *uploads* \o/ (Note: It is not short.) *scampers off to find more prompts to write* Aside from that - and waiting for the archive to go live - I've run a few errands and now I'm curled up with Internet and fic and Stephen King's Under the Dome waiting for me later. I just read Cakewalk over at sga_santa (gen, 4200 wds, anon.) and absolutely loved it to bits -- just the kind of John & Rodney friendship and h/c that I've been craving. Another thing that made me dearly love this fic is that, as I've complained in the past, there is so very little gen fic about gay/bi/etc. characters that's not a prelude to a pairing; this fic is a delightful exception. I also thoroughly loved another of the sga_santa fics that I read last night, Are You Naked Under That Thing?, another John & Rodney friendship gen one (despite what the title implies *g*), in this case a post-Atlantis fic with the wonderful implication of all the characters growing old together that I so adore.

| Christmas Blessings!
Just wondering if any of you lovely people know where I could get screencaps of David Tennant on QI (from the December 24 broadcast)? Having David Tennant and Bill Bailey sat next to each other cracking jokes was the ultimate in awesomeness and I really want to make some icons.
On that subject... who else saw QI and nearly passed out from laughter? And, also, which did you enjoy more? Doctor Who Never Mind the Buzzcocks or David on QI?

| We're having a very wet Christmas Eve here in Milwaukee. :P So glad my favorite Chinese takeout place is open tonight! I mean, kind of sucks for them, but it's good for me. The one in Woodbury used to close on Christmas Eve, which made me un-merry. One regular Yuletide story written, and one pinch hit. I think I'm going to try to get some stocking stuffers written tonight, before I put on "A Christmas Story" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Thank you, everyone, for the lovely cards! Thank you, thank you! ♥ ( janice_lester, I got the package. Eee! Thank you for the mix CD! I love it. A song called "Sophie"? \o/ ♥ ) archon_mentha got me the greatest thing: Spock bear! He looks so cross. And he's so squishy and cuddly! And I promised I'd take some pictures of him with my ponies and my action figures, so here they are. ( Is it any wonder he's cross? )Anyway. :) ihear: Evalyn Parry, "After the Revolution"

| Hello all -
The husband and I are going to be relocating to Boston in a few months and we're currently scoping out neighborhoods. Here's the question: we were very seriously thinking about east boston until we realized that it's connected to boston proper by a very un-bicycle-friendly tunnel. Taking a bicycle across the blue line during rush hour is not allowed, right? So at certain times of day, we're not going to be able to get bicycles out that neighborhood, unless there is some ped bridge or other workaround that I'm missing. Anybody know the area and have any insight? | |

| It being Christmas Eve and all, I was thinking of this Christmas story and drew it up. I meant to draw it nicer, but didn't get time. It's about family. | Since everyone keeps asking - it says " tie me to the bedpost". From Malissa: Nick, Joe, Kevin Sr, Denise & Maya were shopping around NorthPark Center in Dallas, TX on Wednesday. They went into a lot of stores including Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Gamestop and The Finish Line. After the mall, Nick drove Joe & Maya to Guitar Center.Nick showed the true meaning of Christmas when he purchased an electric guitar, gig bag & amp for a kid inside the store. I told Nick how amazing he was for doing that for some random kid. What an awesome Christmas present for just being at the right place at the right time!( + more pics. )source.

Here's hoping Brittany Murphy will soon be resting in peace. Family members and a few close friends have started arriving at Los Angeles' Forest Lawn Memorial Park to say goodbye to the actress, who died last Sunday at 32. Among those expected to attend are her husband, Simon Monjack, and mother, Sharon, as well as director Penny Marshall and longtime friend Eric Balfour. The 24 star, who once even performed in a band with Murphy, is also listed as one of the pallbearers for the intimate, invitation-only service, to take place at the cemetery's Church of the Hills. ( While the funeral will be a private affair, the family does have plans for another remembrance. )sourceMan, this is so sad. My thoughts are with her family - what a horrible thing to have to go through on Christmas Eve. Rest in peace, Brittany.
